Summiting Mt. Hiuchi, one of the best 100 mountains in japan
Mt. Hiuchi, along with Mt. Myoko and Mt. Yake, make up the Kubiki mountain range, and its summit, at 2,462m above sea level, is the highest peak in the Shinetsu area. At an altitude of 2,000m to 2,100m, there are beautiful marshes such as Koya-pond and Tengunoniwa marshland. In July, when the deep snow on Mt. Hiuchi finally melts, the marshes are filled with beautiful alpine flowers. The fresh green leaves, remaining snow, the colorful flower and the clear blue sky... a truly spectacular view like a heavenly paradise. After mid-September, the mountain gradually takes on the colors of autumn. The beauty from late September to early October is particularly indescribable.
Staying at a cute mountain hut
We will stay at Koyaike Hut, located at an altitude of 2,100m. A beautiful marsh spreads out in front of the lodge. If we have time, we can take a stroll through the marsh before dinner to enjoy the flower fields and autumn leaves. On a clear day, we may be able to see the full of stars in the sky.
