From Northern Nagano to the Japan Alps — Your Private Licensed Guide

We run private guided treks throughout the Shinetsu region and the Japan Alps year-round — from single-day hikes to multi-day adventures with overnight stays in traditional mountain lodges. Our home territory is northern Nagano, but we guide across a wide range of areas including the Japan Alps and Yatsugatake. Got somewhere specific in mind? We're happy to make it happen. Every tour is built around you — your goals, your fitness, and your schedule. Whether you're chasing a summit on Japan's 100 Famous Mountains list or looking for a peaceful walk through ancient forest, get in touch and let's plan your perfect mountain trip together.

Japan Alps Specialist

With extensive experience guiding in the Northern, Central, and Southern Alps, we’re equally at home on the high ridgelines of Hotaka, the remote trails of the Kiso range, and the vast wilderness of the Southern Alps as we are on our local trails in northern Nagano.

Multi-day routes with mountain hut stays are our speciality — we handle all the logistics, so you can focus entirely on the mountains.

Some of our most popular Japan Alps routes:

  • Northern Alps: Mt. Kurobe-Goro and Kumonodaira travese, Tateyama area, Shirouma traverse
  • Central Alps: Kiso-Komagatake, Utsugi-dake
  • Southern Alps: Kita-dake (Japan’s second highest peak), Kai-Komagatake & Senjogatake
Where Can We Take You?

From the iconic summits of Mt. Hiuchi and Mt. Myoko — both listed among Japan's 100 Famous Mountains — to multi-day traverses of the Northern Alps and gentle beginner-friendly trails, the options are wide open. Tell us what you're dreaming of, and we'll take care of the rest.

Just Your Group, No One Else

This is a fully private tour — just you, your friends or family, and your guide. No waiting for strangers, no compromising on pace or direction.

Your Memories, Captured

Your guide will photograph you along the way and share the images with you after the tour — a little something to remember the day by. (On request)

Not Sure Where to Start?

No problem at all. Share your experience level, fitness, and what kind of scenery or challenge you're after — we'll match you with the perfect mountain.

Japanese mountain huts — known as yamagoya (山小屋) — are a unique and beloved part of mountain culture in Japan. Most huts offer dormitory-style sleeping arrangements, where guests sleep side by side on futon mattresses in a shared space. Private rooms are available at some huts, but they tend to book up quickly. Blankets and pillows are provided, so there’s no need to carry a sleeping bag. Dinner and breakfast are included in the accommodation fee. Toilet facilities are available at all huts, mostly shared and simple variety. Hot showers are rare at higher-altitude huts, but some huts have onsen facilities.

The prime hiking season in the Japan Alps runs from early July through early October. This window offers the most reliable conditions. Before July, significant snow remains on the higher routes, which can make navigation difficult and dangerous without the right equipment and experience. From mid-October onward, early snowfall begins to arrive, and most mountain huts close for the season, which severely limits overnight trekking options.
